Solo Like Brian May
Today we are going to be learning a lick in the style of one of the most musically versatile guitar players in rock, Brian May.
Brian May is celebrated as the lead guitarist of the English rock band Queen and is recognised as one of the most influential rock guitar players in history.
He is renowned for his elegant and virtuosic guitar playing characterised by blazing blues rock licks, classically inspired guitar harmonies, mixtures of major and minor pentatonic and fast legato runs in scales. Brian is also well known for using an English sixpence in place of a guitar pick.
Today we will be exploring some of Brian May’s signature techniques with a lick in the key of D. So plug in, tune up, crank that amp all the way up to 11 and let’s get started!
