Want to know what one of the oldest arguments in lead guitar playing is?

Is it better to solo fast? Or slow?

This argument has been raging for as long as I’ve been playing lead guitar and from what I can tell, it’s been going on a lot longer than that, too.

But if you allow me, I can put an end to it – right here, right now.

Neither – it’s important to solo the way you want to solo.

If it’s fast – play fast.

If it’s slow – play slow.

You can please some of the people some of the time, so it’s more important to please yourself.

It’s also more important to play musically and well – that could be done both fast and slow.

We should be praising guitar players for playing the way they want, not tearing them down because they don’t play the way we think they should.

Everything is subjective and our opinions are just that – OUR opinions.

I hope now you realise how dumb this argument is.

Leave it for miserable pricks, 3 beers deep, leaving spiteful comments on guitar posts with poor grammar and bad spelling.

Do something better with your time, play guitar the way YOU want!
