Solo Like Joe Walsh
Today we are going to be learning a lick in the style of a country rock legend, Joe Walsh.
Joe Walsh is best known as one of the lead guitar players of The Eagles, but he also enjoyed a successful career with his previous band The James gang as well as a solo career.
Joe is renowned for his immaculate lead guitar playing characterised by major pentatonic country style phrasing, minor pentatonic blues rock licks, fluent mixtures major and minor pentatonic as well as soulful bends and vibrato.
As well as being an amazing lead guitarist, Joe is also an accomplished slide guitar player. His slide guitar prowess can be heard in his classic “Rocky Mountain Way”.
Today we will be exploring some of Joe Walsh’s signature techniques with a lick in the key of A. So plug in, tune up, crank that amp all the way up to 11 and let’s get started!
